About TANSTIA

Tamilnadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) is the apex SSI association in Tamil Nadu, recognized by both the State and Central Governments. It has been serving for MSME welfare since 1st August 1956

Liaison with Government

TANSTIA represents Small and Tiny Industries in many of the policy making bodies. TANSTIA helps to redress the problems of the individual members. TANSTIA collectively represents the requirements of Small and Tiny Industries aiming at the growth of Small and Tiny Industries in Tamilnadu.

Taking part in the main policy making decisions of State and Central Governments relating to micro and small scale industries.
TANSTIA has entered in its Golden Jubilee Year of Service to the SSI Sector in our State.
It is a democratically run association and registered in 1956 under Tamilnadu Societies Registration Act. (Regn. No.5/1956) and its registration is renewed every year with Audited Statement of Accounts and other states as per the law.
TANSTIA has totally 145 SSI Associations and nearly 2500 direct unit holders in its membership folder and nearly 27216 indirect members.
Five different categories of members of TANSTIA are District SSI Associations, Industrial Estate Manufacturers Associations, Productwise Manufacturers Associations, Other SSI Associations and individual unit members. District Associations in Coimbatore and Madurai are having more than 3000 Members

STICON - The State Level Small and Tiny Industries Convention

Further, periodic interaction meetings, Seminars and Annual Conventions like “STICON” are being organised by TANSTIA for the benefit of its members. STICON needs a special mention here that it is a State level convention of Small and Tiny Industries of Tamilnadu, which is being successfully organised by TANSTIA for the last 16 years, with the first in 1989 in Madurai. This Convention finds an ideal platform to put forth the problems of SSI sector and focus the sector to the level it has to reach the Government’s attention.

Dissemination of Information

Considering the importance of dissemination of information to the members, TANSTIA for the last 20 years with great efforts bringing a Magazine “Small Industry” every month which is registered with Registrar of Newspapers of India. (copies of the Small Industry Magazine for the last one year enclosed).
It hosts a free website also to disseminate information to its members. It is updated as and when necessary.

Collaboration with Germany Foundation

TANSTIA FNF Service Centre (TFSC), a world class service Centre catering to the needs of SSI Sector was established by TANSTIA in the year 1992 in collaboration with a German Foundation, Friedrich Namuann Foundation.
Now, the service of TFSC is well known all over India and the State Government has recognised the Centre and find a place in the Tamilnadu Government website also.

Organisational Set up

Every two year election for the posts of Office Bearers and Executive Committee is held and its President cannot contest for the second term. The President of TANSTIA is elected on rotation basis of the four regions of Tamilnadu to give representation to all regions of the State.
In order to give due representation to the District Associations and productwise associations, TANSTIA accommodates them all giving due representation in the Executive Committee.

Facilitator of Interaction

Any Commission or Parliamentary Committee connected with the industry never miss Chennai to have a meeting. TANSTIA either individually or with other agencies used to host the meeting. We can record our contribution for the Nayak Committee, Abid Hussain Committee, Gupta Committee, Yerram Raju Committee, etc.

The representations of TANSTIA for the growth of SSI Sector to the Government Policies achieved the present status of SSI Sector in Tamilnadu and is leading from the front for taking part in the policy decisions of the Central and State Government.
